Do you want to sell on Amazon? This guide takes you step by step through setting up your Seller Central account. From registration to your first product listing.
What you need
Before you start, make sure you have the following documents and information ready:
- Valid ID (identity card or passport)
- Commercial register extract (for GmbH/UG) or business registration
- Bank details (IBAN for payouts)
- Credit card (for the monthly fee)
- Phone number (for verification)
- Tax number or VAT ID
Step 1: Registration
Create an account
Go to sellercentral.amazon.de and click "Register". Choose "Sell professionally" (39€/month) - the individual seller option is only worthwhile for <40 sales/month.
Enter company details
Enter your company details exactly as they appear in the commercial register or business registration. Discrepancies lead to rejection.
Verify your identity
Amazon verifies your identity via video call or document upload. Have your ID and a proof of address (e.g. bank statement) ready.
Step 2: Set up Seller Central
After successful verification, you set up your account:
Payment settings
- Enter your bank details for payouts
- Choose the payout cycle (14 days by default)
- Enter a credit card for fees
Shipping settings
- Define your shipping regions
- Set shipping times and costs
- Decide: FBA or FBM?
Return settings
- Amazon has standard policies (30 days)
- You can offer more generous rules
- Enter your return address
Step 3: Create products
Now comes the exciting part - your first product listing:
Option A: Existing product
If the product already exists on Amazon (e.g. well-known brands), you search for it by ASIN or EAN and add your offer.
Option B: New product
For your own products or products that are not yet listed:
- Choose the right category
- Enter the product title, bullet points and description
- Upload professional product images
- Set the price and inventory
- Enter keywords for search
Step 4: Set up FBA (optional)
If you want to use FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon):
- Activate FBA: In the settings under "Fulfillment by Amazon"
- Convert products: Switch existing listings to FBA
- Create a shipment: Prepare products for shipping to the Amazon warehouse
- Print labels: FNSKU labels for each product
- Ship: Send packages to the assigned Amazon warehouse
Step 5: The first sales
Your account is set up, products are online. Now it's about the first sales:
Increase visibility
- Competitive prices: Analyse the competitors
- Prime badge: FBA gives you Prime automatically
- PPC advertising: Start your first Sponsored Products campaigns
Optimise conversion
- High-quality product images
- Keyword-optimised texts
- A+ Content (if you have Brand Registry)
